Classic Spins with Victoria K

Victoria K
If you love symphonic metal, it's high time you check out these Aussie upstarts who are quite ready to take you on a new journey.

Rockshots recording artists, Victoria K, have released the debut album Essentia.

Should you desire a small taste, check out this VIDEO.

1. My favorite kind of album is the concept album. The Wall is my absolute favorite. Beyond the amazing songs, it has spectacular nostalgia for me.

What's your favorite one and why?

My favourite concept album has to be ‘Endless Forms Most Beautiful’ by Nightwish.

I love the way the story of human evolution unfolds throughout the album and musically it’s just amazing.

 2. My very first album was Live Evil by Black Sabbath. Since then I've had a strong affinity for the live record, even if they're a bit fake. KISS set the bar with Alive!. Surely, it was fake, but it's got the best concert feel of any one.

Tell me about your favorite live record?

I love Delain’s “Decade of Delain – Live at Paradiso."

It has such a great live vibe and killer songs. Some of my favourite songs on the album are, “Sing to me,: “Suckerpunch” and “Army of Dolls."

3. There are a great number of records I've turned to for my moods. What do you listen to when you're angry? Sad?

When I’m sad I listen to Kamelot - Shadow Theory. I just love the vibe it has and the music is incredible.

When I’m angry I generally listen to New Years Day, I don’t really know why but the music is just awesome.

4. One of my friends laughs at me, routinely, for loving the Misfit Toys of albums by major bands. Lulu by Metallica and Lou Reed, Carnival of Souls by Kiss, Diabolous En Musica by Slayer, etc.

What's the strange one that you love?

I don’t really have an album but I love DK-ZERO’s Acid Rocket.  It’s a strange song but I love it, it has such a dance vibe.

5. It's almost fashionable to release live versions of albums or re-record the old ones. King Diamond is releasing a concert with Abigail front to back. Roger Waters has done The Wall twice. Which ones do you have in your collection?

Lately, I’ve been listening to Eluveitie’s “Call Of The Mountains” and “Ambiramus” both recorded in Russian.  The language is awesome.

I haven’t really listened to many remakes other than Amaranthe’s “Maximise” – Bliniks remix.
