Five Minute Interview: Lor

Normally, this would be the spot were we talk about the artist a little bit, but as this is our first attempt at this, these will be short and sweet.

Lots of times you'll see the same questions, as we're getting to know some folks out there.

Glacially Musical: Thanks for taking a few minutes so our readers can get to know you a little bit.

Tyler of Lor: Absolutely!

GM: What made you want to become a musician?

ToL: I followed in my cousin's footsteps. by piking up trompet in the 4th grade for some reason, I felt the urge to perform and from then it just became a part of who I was.

GM: What's the best way to enjoy music?

ToL: Live!

Long car rides and allowing yourself to get immersed in an entire album is also not a bad way to go.

GM: Tell me the last five songs played on your MP3 player.

ToL: In the Presence of Wolves – The Ape and The Cage

Vulfpeck – Dean Town

Hiatus Kaiyote – Molasses

Plini – Cascade

Toto- Rosanna.

GM: Who's your greatest influence?

ToL: If we have to pick, then Blind Guardian is probably the most overall influential group for this project though we all have our own “biggest influences."

I think Blind Guardian has a great talent for writing and keeping songs exciting from start to finish, and if there's a standard that we'd like to aim for within the power metal genre, we'd probably look toward them first.

That being said, we listen to a vast array of music.

GM: You tell me, what do we need to know about you?

ToL: We are beginning to work on our 2nd album which will likely sound a lot different than this one.

We're not focussed on trying to appease a certain demographic with our music. Our goal is to create epic atmosphere regardless of genre classification. It's not worth forcing out music to appeal to what we think our identity is.

We're just going to go with whatever we are being inspired to write at the time and what is being written now definitely seems to be on a slightly different plane of existence than In Forgotten Sleep. Hopefully people still enjoy it. Haha.
