Meowtal with Andy Dowling of LORD

To be perfectly honest, when our little Kitten, Randall Pink Floyd died in April...I couldn't do this column anymore. It was largely written in his honor.

But now, we are a few months on and our tears for Floyd have dried. He's gone but never forgotten. We also adopted a new little kitten named Jiji.

So, in that vein, it seemed right to revive this column and find out again what those metal guys with their cats were doing.

I think we're going to find that Andy Dowling's cat is a bit on the ugly side, but we won't cat shame.

Presently, Andy holds down the bass notes with Australian Power Metal institution, LORD, and he's podcasting like nobody's business.

He was also kind enough to join me on my weekly Instagram Live.

In about six weeks, Lord is going to be releasing their album, Desperation Finds Hunger In All Men.

These gents are a sludge metal band  hailing from the outskirts of Hell, also known as Virginia.

They were good enough to get with us on what they enjoy that's not precisely music...

They play a variety of sludge metal that borders on some serious death stuff, but featuring some odd vocal stylings...

What Tomorrow Brings

Many different kinds of metal have come through my hands over the course of the past few years...and decades before that.

Something I don't pay enough attention to though, is power metal. More specifically, today we're looking at epic power metal.

We'll get into that more later.

Lord is from Australia. The good people at their label were kind enough to send me a CD of their latest release, What Tomorrow Brings. It's generously labeled as an EP.

Tim Lord ended his previous band, Dungeon, in order to create a solo project which has now been transmogrified into a full fledged band.

This all happened in 2003, but this is the first I've heard of them personally. Well, I'm always ready to listen to something I've never heard before and now I want to tell you about them.
