Favorites with Eye of The Destroyer

Everybody out there on a record is more than just the sound you hear when the diamond rips the grooves. They're all real people, mostly, and it's time to learn more about them.

As a nerd in the world, my list of favorite things is long and boring...so let's keep this a bit short.

Today we're hearing from Joe Randazza, Eye of the Destroyer's time keeper.

Eye of the Destroyer is a death metal outfit from the far away shores of New Jersey. The Garden State isn't as kind to them as they'd like, so they hit the road and have brought their brand of extreme metal all over the place.

Their latest EP, Violent By Design, drops on June 6th. Then they'll be taking out city by city, but until then, I'd like you to get to know them a little bit better.

1. Beer?

Favorite beer would definitely have to be old reliable, Yuengling. Nothing beats a nice cold glass of frothy goodness from America’s oldest brewery. You know exactly what you’re going to get every time and in this uncertain chaotic world, sometimes, that’s all you need.

(Note: this answer inspired me to come home from the East Coast with a case and a half of the stuff.)

2. Video game system?

X Box One X is what I own and play on the regular. My favorite might have to be the original PlayStation. Games like Metal Gear Solid, Final Fantasy 7, and Jet Moto entertained me for countless hours. Days even. Holy shit, I’m 34? How the fuck did that happen?!

3. Ethnic food?

Mexican food for sure!! I’m always on the look out for that authentic spot with tacos al pastor and legit as fuck sliced radishes. Best of all time have still been from an unassuming taco truck in downtown L.A. Now I’m hungry!

4. Music format?

Everyone expects the typical answer of ”vinyl is king of all music”, but my favorite will always be a CD in a Diskman with anti-skip technology and bass boom. Spent the summer of ‘99 with Hatebreed “Satisfaction Is The Death Of Desire” on constant loop.

5. Literature?

I used to read a lot more and usually stayed on the non-fiction side of things, but I’ve been loving audiobooks recently. Currently I’m reading (listening to) “Own The Day, Own Your Life” by Aubrey Marcus. It’s got great information to life-hack your way to greatness.

You can pick up their new EP on their BANDCAMP page and say hi on FACEBOOK.
