Hometown Tales from Solium Fatalis's Jim Gregory

Because I'm your buddy...it's time to mention that band from New Hampshire again...

Solium Fatalis.

To begin with...there's no way you're going to get a classic this is brutal in your face metal than that name. They're harkening back to a time when metal bands were smarter than the popstars' producers who made them all that money.

That's awesome. They're latest album, Genetically Engineered To Enslave, has been out for a little while now. If you've been hesitant, now's the time to pull the trigger.

You can even get your copy in a police evidence bag.

That's seriously metal. Let's get the low down on what city made them this metal.

1. St. Louis City is my hometown. I've lived here for most of my life in and around the city. Where are you from?

I’m from a small jerkwater town, that if there was a god then surely the deity would have been wiped it off the face of the earth aeons ago due to it being infected with lunatics, cultists, and country bumpkins which created this maelstrom of assholes the likes of which have never been seen.....

The natives call it “Fairfield, Iowa”

2.We have three things that don't really exist anywhere else: the slinger, the gooey butter cake, and toasted ravioli. Tell me about your hometown delicacy.

I moved to New Hampshire long ago, but as I’m a bit of a transplant I believe these folks enjoy Lobster rolls, steamers(clams), and probably the Reuben sandwich.

3. In St. Louis, though there have been others. Our biggest hometown team is the St. Louis Cardinals (formerly the St. Louis Perfectos, nee: the St. Louis Browns, not the AL team that moved to Baltimore.) There is nowhere you can go to escape it. I'm a hockey fan, not a baseball fan, so it's a bit weird to me. Tell me about your hometown's big team.

I don’t watch sports, it’s like voting for rampant steroid and painkiller abuse and the money paid to these meat wads is ridiculous.

4. St. Louis isn't really known for any one type of music scene. The biggest acts I can think of to get out of here alive were Gravity Kills, Nelly and the St. Lunatics, and Sheryl Crow. There's always been a vibrant concert scene though. What about where you are?

New Hampshire and the Boston area we live near is probably mostly known for “core” music which is fucking awful.

There are a ton of metal bands though and that’s kind of cool.

5. 20 years ago, St. Louis had about 300 murders each year, floods, and all sorts of other fun things. You might have heard about us being named the Murder Capital of the USA. Nowadays, a lot here is 150. But there are lots of parts of the city that are returning to former glory. On the whole, St. Louis is a better place to live today than before. Is there any thing like that where you're from?

I never knew so much about St Louis and I grew up 4 hrs away from it. I thought Chicago has the tops for murder, and Detroit was up there when I was a kid and had the nickname Murder City.

It’s good to be known for something I suppose. I’ve lived in Iowa, Texas, Florida, and now reside in New Hampshire and whatever local legends are out there I have no clue.

Maybe it’s because I’d rather drink beer and check out hot ladies.

6. Are you still there?

See us Live at the CD Release show Stone Church Brattleboro Vermont October 12th where we will be filming it for a live DVD/CD release!!!
