LP Review: "Death Is Peace" by Void Ritual

Death Is Peace
For I am the mayor of Albuquerque!

Void Ritual is a one man project out of that exact city in the American Southwest. Presumably though, Daniel Jackson isn't the mayor or even on the City Council, but I didn't ask his publicist to be sure.

What is sure is that Death Is Peace is a black metal record that kept me guessing all of the way through. It's probably sure that in the American Southwest most folks wouldn't vote for a Black Metal guy either....

Black Metal is kind of like punk rock and death metal in a manner of speaking, all of these genres of music use loads of dressing and tropes designed to ease you into the thundering thickness in the middle. Kind of like a giant submarine sandwich.

Void Ritual appears to have been window shopping, or window stealing, from a lot of different places. In the end though, no matter how beautiful the windows are on the outside, it's all about what we see when we are inside.

Death Is Peace is a giant record that's going to shake you to your soul. If there's anything else you're looking for when it comes to extreme metal, then I'm at a loss.
