Sophomore Jinx with Junior Bruce

If you're into stoner metal on the style of High On Fire, Junior Bruce is a name you really need to know.

They're totally metal and sludgy....all that fuzz.

You can get stuck into their tunes HERE.

1. There is nothing more awkward than sophomore year of high school. Tell me about your circle of friends.

Matty and Shawn were probably my best friends at the time.

Shawn was and still is an amazing artist who would get kids lunch money for drawing Iron Maiden and Metallica logos on notebooks and folders.

Matty drove a firebird and wore snakeskin boots and a Death Angel shirt. He also had this badass jacket with tassels. We started a band together that year.

Interview: Scott and Nate of Junior Bruce

Junior Bruce
Junior Bruce has recently released their album, Endless Descent, on vinyl, CD, and digital.

Recently they took some time to chit chat and deal with my sill questions about nearly nothing.

GM: Stoner Metal is something that's overneath the underground or flirting around the edges. How did you first come across it?

SA: Two of my stoney cousins Chucky and Bobby introduced me to metal when I was just a little shit.

They would let me hang out with them while they smoked dirt weed joints and played Black Sabbath and Iron Maiden records. I suppose it was a natural progression from there.

NA: I usually like death'n'roll myself, but whatever we call it has a lot to do with the culmination of our influences. My previous projects, Asphalt and Vegan Butcher, we were always looking at getting heavier and more agro.

Vinyl Review: "Endless Descent" by Junior Bruce

Endless Descent
Today was supposed to be a really awesome day for my family and I. There were a great many plans that we had made for today. However, Mother Nature decided that all of our plans were mutable.

Instead of seeing a movie, going to the Library, and perhaps taking in a hockey game, we have been locked inside of our house...and without bacon.

Considering last evening St. Louis was pounded with sleet and today's no better, it seems that staying inside of our house and enjoying time as a family was better than the solo fender bender I engaged in on my way home from the office last night.

In this spirit, I have spirited away to the upstairs lounge to resume my consideration of Junior Bruce's latest effort, Endless Descent on vinyl.
