Lords of the Trident |
It was called Nintendo Power.
No? Well, perhaps you're not quite as old as your friend and humble narrator. Well, What about that TV show, Home Improvement?
Oh, well maybe when you were in Primary School you caught an episode here and there right?
Well, those things and America's Lords of the Trident feature large amounts of power.
If you're interested how much ridiculous power they have, check out their latest DIY album HERE.
It could be overpowering, because they're power metal.
Get it?
1. What's the right length for a tour?
That entirely depends on the band and the reason for touring. For many bands, doing anything longer than a mini-tour (3-4 days) doesn’t make a whole lot of sense financially.
But if you were touring to get to a specific destination - say, touring towards a large festival - it might make sense to plan a longer tour. The bigger question that rarely gets asked is - is the traditional touring model still viable in today’s modern music economy?
Often times, that answer is “no”.

2. I've heard some great stories about strange ways of eating on the road. What's your trick to keeping your belly full while out there?
The best way we’ve found is to bring a large cooler and make a stop at a local grocery store. We fill up on ice, deli meats, cheese, bread, and fresh veggies, and we’re stocked for healthy eating for at least a few days.
3. Tell me about the best club you've played? The worst? Names can be left out, or in...whichever.
Oh man...too many to list on both ends of the spectrum. For good clubs, there are a few key things that make the experience great: good sound, good attendance (obviously), but also things like a decent green room and some hospitality (food or drinks), no matter how small.
Bad clubs are usually run by management who see the music as ancillary, and don’t really care about the bands that come through.
They also can’t seem to answer emails to save their lives!

4. Whenever I get behind the wheel of a car for a long drive, I always play a Mitch Hedberg comedy album. What's your routine?
Turn on the dashcam and get the conversation going! We usually have a topic to discuss on long drives - makes the time just fly by.
Thankfully the guys in the band are fantastic conversationalists!

5. How do you settle band fights while in the backseat of the van?
The back seat in our van is known as the “no fun zone”. We usually exile members who need to work on music or work back there.
But in general, there’s very little fighting in this band! Other than axe fighting for fun, that is!

6. Tell us about the best response you've gotten outside of your home town.
We’ve had a lot of great times on the road, but one that stands out is when we were playing Warriors of Metal fest 7 in Ohio.
Although we weren’t headlining, we had the biggest crowd there, and many of the bands that we were fans of were also in the front row headbanging! Just a fantastic time overall.

7. Have you ever played in St. Louis?
Yes! We played St. Louis a few months back. We’re planning on returning sometime very soon!
