Meowtal with Within Nostalgia

1. In my house, we have four cats named Wickett, Louis IX, Jiji, and Leia.

How many do you have and what are they called?

Well, to start we have two cats and a snake. Our two cats are called Nikki and Pat and the snake is called Madusa.

2. It’s obvious where our cats got their names. Where did yours get theirs?

The cats were actually rescued so they came with names already and we felt their names suited them well so we left them at that.

I’m pretty sure at one point we were going to change Pat’s name but after he warmed up to us he felt like a “Pat”. If he did have an alternative name it would definitely be Mr. Krinkle named after the Primus song.

Madusa of course got her name from the Greek Gorgon of the same name, though a slightly different spelling.

3. We’re three people with one cat each. My cat, Jiji likes to be held like a baby. What’s an odd behavior your cat has?

Pat has about a dozen different meows and each one conveys a different emotion of his. My personal favorite is his “I wanna treat” meow where he’ll sound all cute just so you’ll give you a treat then go back to his usual cat self.

He also has a reusable grocery bag on the floor which he’s pretty protective about. Nikki hasn’t done it in a while but she used to literally sit down on the floor on her butt and rub her stomach while cleaning herself.

4. When I leave, I always pick a cat to be in charge of the other kitties. What’s the wacky thing you do with yours?

We do a lot of strange things with our cats honestly. I’ve had full-on conversations with Pat before realizing what I was actually doing.

He has his own leash too so we’ll take him for walks in the summer or bring him to the park to stroll around.

5. We have a half-Himalayan, a Polydactyl, a black kitten, and a silver tabby. What sorts do you have?

I do know for sure that Nikki is an Orange Tabby, Pat is your usual domesticated short hair we think and Madusa is a Ball Python.

6. Over the years, my cats have taught me absolutely nothing. What’s the one thing you think they should be imparting to us, humans?

The one thing I’ve always loved about cats is they live independently and like most animals, live in the moment of now not hung up on the past or anxious about the future.

They really just live their lives for themselves and really aren’t concerned with what others are doing around them.
