Meowtal with Curtis Dewar of Dewar PR

Sometimes, it's time to start up a new column featuring my whimsical silliness. Today's the day!

We've all seen the hundreds upon thousands of metal guys with their kitty cats. The internet is full of kitties all over the place.

So, because of that, it seems like we should be talking about cats here on Glacially Musical.

Today, we're talking to Curtis Dewar of Dewar PR. If you're looking for metal/hard rock/punk whatever PR, he's your guy.

Let's talk cats now.

1. In my house, we have three cats named Wickett, Louis IX, and Randall "Pink" Floyd. How many do you have and what are they called?

Man, your house must fucking STINK with that many cats!

I have one cat and her name is Ladybug. She's fucking adorable but also a bit of a jerk at times (Like most cats).

Video Column: Who Are You with Curtis Dewar

GOOD MORNING!

It's time for another column to get out there in the world. One of my greatest pleasures is getting new bands in front of people's faces. That's why Glacially Musical was started and that's what I'm still doing over seven years into the story.

As you well know, Dewar PR is one of the best PR firms in metal. Get with him if you're looking to start a new campaign.  Dewar PR

Hair Today Gone Tomorrow with Curtis Dewar of Dewar PR

It's time for a brand new column!

Once there was a time when hairspray, spandex, and songs about wholly inappropriate things ruled the world. Call it glam metal, hair metal, our Sunset Strip Rock. The name really isn't all that critical if you ask me.

What is critical is how it totally embodied the 1980's. Cocaine, money, and cheap sexy time.

We are nearly 40 years out from when it hit the market after Quiet Riot's Metal Health broke causing all of these bands to crush it.

So, let's reach out and find what the current bands these days think of those times. For many of them, these bands are like Led Zeppelin and Black Sabbath were to me in the 90's, amazing bands of yesteryear that don't precisely exist anymore.

We're starting this one off with publicist extraordinaire, Curtis Dewar of Dewar PR. If you're a band looking to get folks, like myself, talking and writing about you. Hit him up HERE.

But now, tease your hair and slip back into those leopard print tight pants.

Guest Post: How To Get Noticed by Curtis Dewar

What to include in your album submission

A common error that I see bands going the “do it yourself” promotion route is a failure to include any information whatsoever about them.

No bio, no album credits, nothing. I’ve had some bands tell me that they want “the music to speak for itself” or to “maintain a mystique” but in reality this is just a cop out for being lazy and unprofessional.

While I can understand wanting the music to speak for itself, the thing is that at least a little bit of information needs to be sent along with the album itself. While you may not feel that you have the skills to write a fancy bio yourself, you can minimally include the following info:

Genre

This is important so that the publication in question knows if your music is even suitable for them. If a metal journalist takes the time to download your album and then finds out that you’ve sent them a rap album that journalist is going to be pissed off.
