Video: "The Age of Giant Monsters" by Stagnant Project

Sometimes I get to things too late. Being a guy who's attempting to be an equal partner in a household with a kid who plays hockey and that full time job thing, sometimes we're a bit late to the party.

This time, we're definitely late.

It's easy to feel like you've got a great handle on putting metal bands into a subgenre after you've made over 1300 posts...and most of them being about metal...but Stagnant Project has me a bit flummoxed like a lummox.

There's big riffin', a bit of crab dancin', keyboards, grindcoreish vocals, and some bitchin' leads.

But I'll let you find that giant monster. Anyway, you can find them on Facebook and if you dig this track, there's always the whole rest of the ALBUM too.

EP Review: "Maere" by Eschatos

Maere
When hearing a news story, it's always nice to consume unbiased news. (Yes, it does exist. Just because one person cannot tell a story without their bias doesn't mean all of humanity lacks the ability.)

What's great about some news sources, they give you analysis and reaction from people on both sides of the issue, so the picture is clearer as to how it may affect you, your loved ones, and all that kind of stuff.

It seems to me that when a second, or third voice is heard, my initial perception is crushed and a bigger picture comes into focus.

It's important to hear more than a single voice in your life. Echo chambers will kill us all because no pizza places deliver to echo chambers. Also, Jets Pizza....that stuff is the best chain pizza out there.

LP Review: "Grand Noir" by Eschatos

Grand Noir
Oh you know what I'm going to say.

How many of my faithful friends and readers can remember the character of Louie on MTV's The State?

He was the guy who came in and said his catch phrase over and over again. As a young lad in my mid-teens, the joke flew over my head.

To me, it was just a funny guy saying a funny thing. Only much later did the joke get revealed to me. Louie was a response to the pressure MTV put on The State to have a quotable recurring character.

So they made the worst one they could think of. Frankly, that kind of thinking is just brilliant, but as Americans, our attention spans have been dwindling for decades. That's why terrible comedians like Larry The Cable Guy make millions. Short attention spans and catch phrases.
