Tour Dates: Morbid Angel and Incantation

Legendary death metal titans MORBID ANGEL will blaze US stages this fall on a month-long headlining tour. The 2019 USA Sickness Tour begins November 21st in Houston, Texas and runs through December 21st in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida.

Support will be provided by Swedish black metal practitioners Watain and American death metal veterans Incantation. Ticket go on sale Thursday, August 29th.
Comments MORBID ANGEL's Steve Tucker of the band's latest trek, "We are really stoked to be doing this tour together with our brothers in Watain and Incantation!

This is a relentless lineup of pure evil and uncompromised dark art! We look forward to melting the faces off of all of you seeking the comfort of the dark!"

MORBID ANGEL will be touring in support of their Kingdoms Disdained full-length released in 2017 via Silver Lining Music. The critically-adored record reunites founding guitarist Trey Azagthoth with bassist/vocalist Steve Tucker.

Captured at Mana Studios in St. Petersburg, Florida and produced by MORBID ANGEL with Erik Rutan, the record delivers eleven pieces of devastatingly dynamic death metal. Rolling Stone hailed a, "cyclone of blastbeat-driven fury punctuated with Azagthoth's signature heaving, lunging grooves and Eddie Van Halen-on-a-bad-trip solos," while Metal Injection crowned the record, "one of the band's most essential efforts," adding, "the record contains almost wall to wall instant classics, and is not only Steve Tucker's best album as MORBID ANGEL frontman, but by extension the group's most genre-defining effort since 1995's iconic Domination."
Orders for Kingdoms Disdained are currently available at THIS LOCATION.

LP Review: "Necrogenesis" by Nordjevel

Necrogenesis
There are a great number of reasons to enjoy metal. When talking to someone that it's important not think of me as some deranged serial killer listening to Mayhem...

Perhaps, casually, it's well, metal has the best guitar players... (and it's true don't @ me. Or do. Whatever.)

The truest reasoning though, is that metal is the scariest of all music. It's the angriest of all music.

Horror and Anger really helped me navigate my teenage years. Even decades later, it's still important to maintain that.

The venerable Osmose Productions is about to release another gem of a black metal record, by Nordjevel.

This band features ex-Morbid Angel, Destructhor. That's the coolest and oddest ex-Morbid Angel member possible. Though, I wasn't a big fan of Ilud Divinum Insanus, Necrogenesis is precisely the kind of metal I want to hear.

It's a strange cross between Black Metal and Death Metal. It's the kind of music that someone should be playing during the good scenes in the old 80's blood and guts horror flicks.

That's why it's great.

LP Review: "Kingdoms Disdained" by Morbid Angel

Kingdoms Disdained
It wasn't that long ago that Morbid Angel was touring Covenant again.

Sadly, that show...I missed it.

Morbid Angel was the first death metal band to really enter my purview. They were real death metal, not like Slayer.

Slayer was always touted as death metal by those out of the know. That was the introduction to my being a fan of extreme metal.

It's been 23 years since I bought it, but I can tell you the name of the store, where I got the money, and the location of where the store used to be.

It's a Qdoba now. Which is neither metal nor extreme. It's also safe to say that they have not purloined any metal fans into fans of their wanna be Mission Burritos. Though for a time, my death metal fandom waned, it has waxed again....

Album Review: "Heartwork" by Carcass

It's about to get brutal up in here. Carcass are, well were, some pretty heavy boys. I had this album back when it was fairly new in the 90's and like many others, it slipped away from me. Even though I'm in my thirties now, I still like to blast some metal. A big part of that is because I love guitar. Many of the best guitarists play metal, so that's where I go to find it. Though I have to say that long gone are the days of my being in a mosh pit, stage diving, having long hair and piercings, etc. Sad isn't it? An aging metal guy.

Carcass has long since broken up and I have to say that this is pretty much a shame. Although this album is prototypical death metal, or grindcore, or whatever, it's more than just something like Cannibal Corpse and those kinds of guys. The first death band I got into was Morbid Angel. There's a group of guys that fall into every trap imaginable when it comes to death metal....
