Meowtal with Aaron Holt

Let's talk about Aaron Holt, a solo artist from Washington, DC. Let's all be thankful he survived the insurrection.

Wait...let's not get political, but my capitol was violently attacked....that's not politics...that's patriotism.

Anyway, he's got one of them singles out. You can peep that stuff over on the YOUTUBE.

So, let's find out about his kitty.

1. In my house, we have four cats named Wickett, Louis IX, Jiji, and Leia. How many do you have and what are they called?

We also have four pets, but we have 2 dogs and 2 cats. We have Thor, Buddy, Jadzia Dax, and Kira.

Meowtal with Within Nostalgia

Back in December, North Bay, Ontario's favorite metal duo dropped a new EP. You can get that stuff for five looneys.

Or one Two-eny and three looneys. Or Two Twonies and one Looney.

You come up with your own permutation. But you can do it.

Scamper on over to the BANDCAMP and let's talk about cats.

1. In my house, we have four cats named Wickett, Louis IX, Jiji, and Leia.

How many do you have and what are they called?

Well, to start we have two cats and a snake. Our two cats are called Nikki and Pat and the snake is called Madusa.

Meowtal with Chris Van of Dividing The Element

So, if I might be a bit serious for a moment, after all this is a web journal, which at its core is about what the author is doing on a daily basis. As of today, I no longer have any parents. My mother passed on just under a week ago.

This is the first time I've put pen to paper, so to speak, since then. It's ironic that it's the pet column, which had to be suspended this summer after my kitten, Floyd, died.

More than anything, this is simply a small reminder that everything is temporary and we should be having the times of our lives every day.

BUT...this is about Dividing The Element's Chris Van. He has a strange, and slightly large cat as near as I can tell. The photo up there seems a bit fuzzy, or perhaps it's fuzzy because of these delicious Midwest Coast IPAs by Urban Chestnut Brewing.

Dividing The Element is one of the few, the proud, the African Metal Bands.

They're based in Zimbabwe. I'd heartily suggest checking out their BANDCAMP page here. You can get your stream on or purchase their debut album.

It's likely to leave you hungry for more.

Now, let's find out about this oddly shaped cat.

1. In my house, we have three cats named Wickett, Louis IX, and Jiji. How many do you have and what are they called?

Meowtal with Habu's Alex

First off, here's an apology for Habu. When this column started, it was in honor of my (now) late kitten, Randall "Pink" Floyd. He sadly died very early and very young.

It was basically impossible to even keep transcribing these interviews.

But, time has helped us heal as has the arrival of our newest family member, the formerly feral, Jiji.

So, enough, of that mushy stuff, but let's talk about Habu. They're a progger band from Angolland. You can read more about their latest record HERE

While you're thinking about their sweet guitar solos...

Check them out via BANDCAMP.

In my house, we have three cats named Wickett, Louis IX, and Jiji. How many do you have and what are they called?

- We have a dog named Shep, and two ferrets named Flapjack and Tinkerbelle.

It's obvious where our cats got their names. Where did yours get theirs?

Meowtal with Adzes

Have you heard of anything that's been happening there out on the West Coast that might concern you and make you worry about the state of our democracy?

Well, Adzes, has been fighting the good fight against Capitalism via Sludge Metal.

If you're not thinking about Jesus Built My Deathsquads right now, what are you even doing in this world?

Check it out on BANDCAMP right now!

Meowtal with Andy Dowling of LORD

To be perfectly honest, when our little Kitten, Randall Pink Floyd died in April...I couldn't do this column anymore. It was largely written in his honor.

But now, we are a few months on and our tears for Floyd have dried. He's gone but never forgotten. We also adopted a new little kitten named Jiji.

So, in that vein, it seemed right to revive this column and find out again what those metal guys with their cats were doing.

I think we're going to find that Andy Dowling's cat is a bit on the ugly side, but we won't cat shame.

Presently, Andy holds down the bass notes with Australian Power Metal institution, LORD, and he's podcasting like nobody's business.

He was also kind enough to join me on my weekly Instagram Live.

Check out what's he kicking over on his WEBSITE.

1. In my house, we have three cats named Wickett, Louis IX, and Jiji. How many do you have and what are they called?

MEOWTAL with Becoming The Lion's Dennis Paterkiewicz

Those are some very large cats.
Look. Let's be honest. When I started this column, who in the world ever thought that metal guys were into dogs?

Remember all of those pictures with Slayer, Deicide, et al with kitty cats? Well, apparently, there are folks out there that enjoy dogs.

So, enjoy this MEOWTALthat's sprinkled withdogs.

Also, stream a track while ya read. BANDCAMP.

1. In my house, we have three cats named Wickett, Louis IX, and Randall "Pink" Floyd. How many do you have and what are they called?

MEOWTal with Monica Strut

In the current state of the world, it's important that I continue working hard here. We may all be stuck in our houses, but it's important that we continue working together.

If you didn't know, there are also Instagram Lives on the IG page each Wednesday at 8pm EST.

But instead of talking about all of that and the stuff that's out there.

Crack open a beer and we're going to talk to marketing guru Monica Strut about her cat.

She's also all up into that metal shiz. You can see that at BANDCAMP.

1. In my house, we have three cats named Wickett, Louis IX, and Randall "Pink" Floyd. How many do you have and what are they called?

I have one cat called Cash!

Find out what.

But in the meantime, we're talking kitties. Because they have them.

1. In my house, we have three cats named Wickett, Louis IX, and Randall "Pink" Floyd. How many do you have and what are they called?

We have two cats, Pumpkin and Trogdor. They are both girls.

Meowtal with João of Her Name Was Fire

Portuguese  hard rockers HER NAME WAS FIRE have dropped their new track "Another Rodeo" via PureGrainAudio.

The song is taken from their upcoming release Decadent Movement which will be released via Raging Planet Records in April.

If you're looking to sample the wares, HERE is where you can.

But this isn't about whether or not they're an amazing Portuguese death shoegaze folk jazz band, which is good, because they are not.

It's about kitties!

So screw on your best metal face and get fluffy!

1. In my house, we have three cats named Wickett, Louis IX, and Randall "Pink" Floyd. How many do you have and what are they called?

MEOWTAL with Brian Valdibia of Lonescar

Again, I'm setting my sites on the state of Texas and some grooving metal your way.

Check out the BANDCAMP to see why you should be throwing some Lincolns over at our good friends.

Or one Lincoln and a Hamilton...or 15 Sacejaweas. Am I the only one who loves those dollar coins?

1. In my house, we have three cats named Wickett, Louis IX, and Randall & Floyd. How many do you have and what are they called?

I have 2.

My wonderful disappearing act, the great & lovable Houdini, and her spoiled but extremely adorable son Smokifer aka “el Smokey”

2. It's obvious where our cats got their names. Where did yours get theirs?

Houdini got hers for being the best disappearing act I’ve ever seen. When we first got her she would hide for hours without a sound, and then you’d see her appear next to you.

Meowtal with Fumarole

Recently, I went to Outback Steakhouse and frankly I have to tell you that the service was less than stellar, the Fosters wasn't cold enough.

Not a single person working in the joint seemed to speak with any sort of Aussie accent. They also couldn't even begin to explain to me what precisely Australian steak even WAS!

Don't get me started on listening to American douchebags saying "shrimp on the barbie."

After this horrific time in my life, I felt I needed to reach out and discuss this with a legitimate Australian.

So, we reached out to our friends, Fumarole. (BANDCAMP) If anyone was going to be able to tell me about their cats and how this relates to poncing French philosophers, they would.

1. In my house, we have three cats named Wickett, Louis IX, and Randall "Pink" Floyd. How many do you have and what are they called?

We have a grey and white boy called Smokey Joe who is chill all the time and a wild Orange stripey boy named Crookshanks.

If you're anything like me...and the esteemed Matt MF Bacon, you're working hard today.

I'm giving you an audience with the Gary Vee (I don't know who that is) of Black Metal himself.

Matt GOD DAMNED Bacon!!!!

Sacrifice all goats now.

Look, I don't have a link tree for the man...but there's Bacon's Bits, Dropout Media, and The Dumb and Dumbest Podcast.

1. In my house, we have three cats named Wickett, Louis IX, and Randall "Pink" Floyd. How many do you have and what are they called?

Meowtal with Cam Bird

Yoda (left) and Cam Bird
Australia's Cam Bird will release his new single "The Devil's Hands" on February 21st 2020. The song will be available on streaming formats and can be pre-saved here: https://distrokid.com/hyperfollow/cambird/the-devils-hands

Those who knew the Australian from his previous death metal outfit Create|Destroy will be surprised to see such an evolution - after some soul-searching across three EPs, the vocalist/guitarist has finally found his true calling as a hard rockin’ singer/songwriter.

Beyond, released earlier this year, was the final culmination of this shift, and it’s only upwards from there on new single “The Devil’s Hands”.

1. In my house, we have three cats named Wickett, Louis IX, and Randall "Pink" Floyd. How many do you have and what are they called?

I have a cat named Yoda who just turned 1. I only have the one so far and am traditionally a dog person but have fallen in love with the little guy and would love another one later this or next year.

Meowtal with Curtis Dewar of Dewar PR

Sometimes, it's time to start up a new column featuring my whimsical silliness. Today's the day!

We've all seen the hundreds upon thousands of metal guys with their kitty cats. The internet is full of kitties all over the place.

So, because of that, it seems like we should be talking about cats here on Glacially Musical.

Today, we're talking to Curtis Dewar of Dewar PR. If you're looking for metal/hard rock/punk whatever PR, he's your guy.

Let's talk cats now.

1. In my house, we have three cats named Wickett, Louis IX, and Randall "Pink" Floyd. How many do you have and what are they called?

Man, your house must fucking STINK with that many cats!

I have one cat and her name is Ladybug. She's fucking adorable but also a bit of a jerk at times (Like most cats).
