Vinyl Review: The Tomicks Self Titled

The Tomicks
Bless you all for sticking with me.

Today is the second vinyl review, in a row, that won't feature an unboxing video.

I'm still not sure when that'll return. The sitting room where I am now, is still a disaster.

Let's talk about the good changes between the last vinyl review and this one though...

Well, it's just the one thing really, my new old receiver.

A couple years ago, I was gifted a Sherwood S7100-A receiver, which back in the day was one of the top of the line combos. Well, it broke very shortly after it came into my possession and it's been fixed!

Album Review: "Thieves of Thunder" by MF Ruckus

Thieves of Thunder
The idea behind Glacially Musical is to spread the word of the music that I think's quality.

If I were to stick with a single genre of music, I might have a more dedicated fan base, because most people do not have the strangely eclectic taste in music that I do.

But I am who I am and this blog reflects that.

Today's review, MF Ruckus, also has that kind of vibe.

They're a self described Rock'n'Roll band because they don't want to fall down the rabbit holes of the subgenre and frankly I can't blame them.

I've been turned down when I've branched out because that radio station didn't broadcast that kind of music, meaning metal. Variety is the spice of life and it's always nice to hear something that moves beyond the standard 4/4 time, 2/4 beat of rock....

Album Review: "The Heart and The Thrill" by The Battery Electric

The Heart and The Thrill
How many currently active bands can you name today that are straight up rock'n'roll?

I'm not talking about arena rock, or hard rock, or stoner rock, but just what we remember as rock'n'roll.

Jim Morrison nailed it in 1968 when he said rock'n'roll was dead. The classic three chord sound had already withered and died and in it's place came rock.

Then arena rock, then punk rock, then hard rock, acid rock, and pretty much anything else you could ever imagine.

Well, thankfully, there are a few groups around that are still out there banging out their chords and singing their wails and hail, hailing rock'n'roll.

The Battery Electric is the latest to cross my desk and I have some things to say about what they do.
