The big one though, is Thanksgiving. That holiday is wholly American and didn't exist anywhere else before the Pilgrims celebrated it way back when.
Over the centuries, it has escaped our greedy claws and landed elsewhere...Canada...I'm looking at you.
The traditions are also wholly American...gluttony, over abundance, etc, but even with all of that, it's still my personal favorite holiday.
If you're wondering why, it's because it's the only holiday that I'm permitted to host and I absolutely love cooking a giant spread. Years ago I'd hold Friendsgivings as well, because, my circle worked retail and retail workers don't always get to spend time with their families as they'd like.
