Hometown Tales with Mathiew Vilandre of Fuck The Facks

Is it wrong of me to think that because Qubec has the Acadians...well... had them and St. Louis has the Chouteau Dynasty that we are kinsfolk of some sort even though my only French is Hi, How are you, Where is the Bus stop, and Don't Shoot Me I'm Canadian?

Yeah, it totally is.

Anyway, let's talk to a Quebecois via Germany. (Man, I dunno. He didn't really explain.)

Fuck The Facts can be found on BANDCAMP. Now's probably a good time to mention, these dudes are doing an interview that's not in their native language.

Thanks for taking some time for us here in St. Louis. It's appreciated.

1. St. Louis City is my hometown. I've lived here for most of my life in and around the city. Where are you from?

I was born in Germany but lived most of my life in Gatineau, Quebec, Canada.

Hometown Tales with Michael Bala of Bloodfeast Ritual

Certainly there are some readers out there who're like this blogger and wonders what life amongst the northern states is like?

Not about those states like New York, Pennsylvania, or Illinois, but the seriously northern states..the ones that are up night cuddling with Canada.

Well, if only there was some way this could be brought to the proletariat via Glacially Musical.

Welp. Here's a man from Fargo, ND.

In the mean time, there's always this EP there over at BANDCAMP.

This year a group of British Columbianos released a new EP of tunes. Have you checkted out Dyatlove on Bandcamp?

It's been a few months, but the music is just as fresh as it was back in May. Enjoy some rock music from the North of the World.

In the meantime, let's learn more about their slice of that part of the world shall we?

How's the view here from Fly Over Country?

It's really not too bad, but it's interesting to ask the locals about where they eat, dance and drink. Today we're hearing all about SoCal from Diego of Anthea.

Make sure you're all over their INSTAGRAM.

That town is sort of famous.

It might be the most recognizable town in the entire state of Washington that's not named Walla Walla!

So check out their tunes and find out how they Seattle.

Hometown Tales with Jupiterian

Do you remember the great days of June when we were sure that all of this lockdown nonsense was going to be over and we'd all be out there hugging and kissing everybody after 2 months of horrific house arrest?

Well, Jupiterian (Canada) does. In fact, that's when they dropped their latest album via BANDCAMP. Let's be honest, I'm not certain if naming the thing bereavement was kismet or karma.

Either way, I wanna ya know...listen to metal, drink beer, and get the hell out of my house.

In the meantime, find out about where they live!

1. St. Louis City is my hometown. I've lived here for most of my life in and around the city. Where are you from?

Hometown Tales with Sons of Butcher's Ricky Butcher

Look, it's LONG SINCE BEEN TIME that Glacially Musical mentions the CFL and I will tell you today that right now Canadian Football is the greatest American football league in the world until the Battlehawks return to take flight.

Now that I've done a little tire pumping for the Canadian Football League, it's time to point out that w're talking to Sons of Butcher. They're based out of Hamilton, Ontario.

You may be interested in their brand of metal. You can check that over on the BANDCAMP.

Let's find out what their digs are like.

Hometown Tales with Wills Dissolve

Wills Dissolve
It's been a minute since we've check in with Houston's own, Wills Dissolve. Their progressive metal has hopefully captured your soul and flushed it down to the underworld by now right?

No?

Hmm. What if this band had a cast of characters that have lived all over the United States and beyond?

What if they're going to tell you about Vietcajun food? (Now that...that gets me curious and nearly willing to head to Houston.)

In the meantime, don't miss out on their brilliant release. You can get that on BANDCAMP. While you're grooving to that slap of tastiness, check out the boys themselves with a bit more detail.

Hometown Tales With Hollow Leg

Hollow Leg
We've heard it all from Florida's Hollow Leg. We know about what foods they eat, the beer they drink, how awesome their last two releases are, but we really don't know much about where they're from.

As these gents are from Orlando, FL...

There should be loads to hear about.

Let's check in.

1. St. Louis City is my hometown. I've lived here for most of my life in and around the city.

Where are you from?

Winter Garden which is just west of Orlando FL.

Hometown Tales with Sam Huber

Sam Huber
The Hometown Tales have been really cool for me. Even though the vast majority of the respondents have been Americans, they've told us all about new places.

It's easy for people in other countries to forget just how large the United States is. Our nation is the same size as Europe.

You might recall my review on Sam Huber's latest vinyl release.... He's from Helsinki, Finland. Apart from the Black Metal bands and Hockey, I can't really say that I know too much about the Scandinavian nation.

Let's find out some more about it together.

1. St. Louis City is my hometown. I've lived here for most of my life in and around the city. Where are you from?

I’m from Helsinki, Finland. I’ve lived here for all of my life.

Hometown Tales with Northern Crown's Zachary Randall

Northern Crown
Northern Crown is putting doom metal on the map in Florida, but if we're being terribly  honest, how much more doom can America's handle really take?

There's so much abject wackiness going on in that state, I worry for their continued safety. Did you know there is a python problem in the Everglades?!

Too many Floridians decided their pythons were far too much work and they tossed them into the swamp!

Oh well, wait, this interview is about Indiana. Hey, Indiana, do you know what HOOSIER means in St. Louis?

You can pick up their latest thumper of an album over on their BANDCAMP page. Their latest album is their self-titled. If that's too serious for you, spend some time on their FACEBOOK instead.

So, see what it's all about below.

Hometown Tales with Dead Register's Avril Che

Dead Register
Atlanta, GEE EH.

Let's talk about that amazing town, or should we discuss Dead Register first as their own Avril Che will be giving us the skinny on what it's like in Hotlanta.

Dead Register gave us an amazing debut album back in 2016 and a vinyl and cassette release in 2017. This year, they took some time out and released the follow up, Captive.

Oh wait...it's 2019 now, I mean all that stuff happened last year. Let's find out about what it's like to live in the shining city of Atlanta in the country of Spare Oom.

I mean Georgia. Anyway, let's see about the country outside of the airport.

St. Louis City is my hometown. I've lived here for most of my life in and around the city. Where are you from?

Hometown Tales from Solium Fatalis's Jim Gregory

Because I'm your buddy...it's time to mention that band from New Hampshire again...

Solium Fatalis.

To begin with...there's no way you're going to get a classic this is brutal in your face metal than that name. They're harkening back to a time when metal bands were smarter than the popstars' producers who made them all that money.

That's awesome. They're latest album, Genetically Engineered To Enslave, has been out for a little while now. If you've been hesitant, now's the time to pull the trigger.

You can even get your copy in a police evidence bag.

That's seriously metal. Let's get the low down on what city made them this metal.

Hometown Tales with Lords of the Trident

Lords of the Trident
Lords of the Trident refuse to be done with us!

It's getting closer and closer to the inevitable showdown between Glacially Musical and Lords of the Trident.

There's lots to love in their most recent record, Shadows of the Past. Lots to love that is if you're into large, epic power metal that'll crush your soul.

Find them!

1. St. Louis City is my hometown. I've lived here for most of my life in and around the city. Where are you from?

While I’m a wanderer, mostly, I feel like I can call Madison, Wisconsin my current “hometown”. I’ve lived here for quite a few years now.

Hometown Tales with DayGlo Mourning's Joe Mills

DayGlo Mourning
DayGlo Mourning is on the post-release afterglow.

It might even be glowing during the standard diurnal hours when that sort of thing isn't precisely expected. The Mourning crew teamed up with Bludy Gyers for a spectacular sludge split, Rope Enough For Two. Check that out on the BANDCAMP.

There's even a vinyl edition hitting the mailbox around..well actually right now.

Joe Mills was good enough to tell us about Atlanta from his perspective.

Check it out.

1. St. Louis City is my hometown. I've lived here for most of my life in and around the city. Where are you from?

I'm originally from WV, but after a lot of travel I've settled in Atlanta, GA.

Hometown Tales with Marc Durkee

Marc Durkee
It's time for yet another edition of  Hometown Tales.

We're checking in with another Canadian metaller, name of Marc Durkee.

Durkee's latest release, Remain In Stasis, will be released on January 18, 2019. You can check out all that goodness on his BANDCAMP page.

Stasis is an uptempo rockin' album that's a bit reminiscent of Yellow & Green era Baroness, but with more crunch and more melody.

It's something you'll definitely want to catch.

It wouldn't be a bad idea to get a bit more intimate with the Yarmouth, Nova Scotia native on the FACEBOOK.

But, what is Yarmouth, NS? To find out more about this Maritime town in Nova Scotia, we'll turn the mic over to the man himself.
