Sophomore Jinx with Lindsay Schoolcraft

It's a rare day here at Glacially Musical. On a normal day, we're talking to metal guys about tacos and whatnot, but today...

We are talking to a Juno Nominated artist, a musician who's traveled and toured the world over, a woman who's dropped some amazing harp records and sold out her vinyl runs.

It's always an honour (and I'll stick in a superfluous U for her) when she gives my silly self the time of day, much less takes part in in one of my columns.

In case you didn't know, she's dropped her latest album and you can check that out on BANDCAMP.

1. There is nothing more awkward than sophomore year of high school. Tell me about your circle of friends.

Video: "Saviour" by Lindsay Schooldcraft

When Rocky sent me the demo of this song, before I had even started writing the lyrics and vocals, I just knew this was going to be “the song” used as the first single and music video.

At the time I was dealing with the pressure of feeling like I had to save the lives of everyone around me and I lost a lot of my happiness and sanity in doing so. A lot of the lyrics where taken directly from what I actually said in text message conversations.

Every time I sing this song it is such a powerful reminder that I can’t be everything to everyone and that other people need to choose to fix themselves and I can’t make that decision for them.”
Listen to the track here."

Taco Tuesday with Lindsay Schoolcraft

Lindsay Schoolcraft
From Cradle of Filth into her own spotlight, Lindsay Schoolcraft is releasing her own solo album.

You can check out the first single over at her BANDCAMP page.

She's taken the unusual tact of not putting up a preorder for her solo record. As she put it, there are no record label execs that she's trying to impress with her presales.

So she didn't do it.

Not putting up pre-orders is totally metal. We'll go with that. Schoolcraft has been a member of the English black metal collective, the aforementioned Cradle of Filth since 2014. She's come a long way from her home in Ottawa, ON.

So, it only makes sense to get her taco takes.

Interview with Lindsay Schoolcraft of Cradle of Filth

Lindsay Schoolcraft
The name Cradle of Filth has been synonymous with extreme metal since the late 90's.

Their brand of theatrical black metal has captured the attentions of metal fans the world over.

For the past seven years, Lindsay Schoolcraft has put her stamp on their live performances with her keyboards, vocals, and even a little bit of harp.

After all this time in Cradle of Filth, she's now putting out her first solo album, Martyr, later on in the fall. Rock Gray of Evanescence co-wrote and performed it.

We were lucky enough to catch up with Schoolcraft and touched on a number of subjects including social media and, of course Martyr.

Check it out.
