Pizza Pie Do or Die with Nyiko

Every so often, it's nice for Glacially Musical to take a divergent path.

Sadly, my divergences are never quite as metal as the movie....of the same name.

But anyway, you might recall that I did a 7" vinyl review of his single, You Know I Loved It. I'm probably going to put that on the turntable today.

It's been too long I think.

But for the now, he's got a new single that dropped last month. The last few months for me have been just right for this kind of tunage.

Like The Movies has a modern era New Wave sound to me.

Check it on bandcamp, but right now, it's PIZZA PIE DO OR DIE!!!

Pizza Pie Do or Die with Into Pandeomonium's Saga

In January, six piece (yes....six) extreme metal band Into Pandemonium released their album, Darkest Rise.

Go ahead and steam that stuff on BANDCAMP.

But right now, let's talk about Pizza.

Because that's the content we all need right now, and if you're able to acquire a pizza pie right now, make sure you do the right thing and tip heavy.

Without further ado...

Saga.  Where I come from Pizza is some baked bread with marinara sauce and cheese with meat or any topping of your choice usually from around $10.00 or $11.99 for a Large or higher depending on your store of choice.

Pizza Pie Do or Die with Cam Bird

In case you've ever wondered, why does this heavy metal website talk about food so god damned much, it's because in a former life, I was a food and beer blogger.

That's part of why these are so interesting to me, but also because the USA is big country, but more than that, it's a great big world out there and right now, we're all a bit cordoned off from it.

So, talking to Cam Bird about Australian pizza has me in my happy place. Check out his rocking new album via BANDCAMP.

Pizza Pie Do or Die with Hi/Jack

Drummer Ron "Hi" Terrell and guitarist/vocalist Max "Jack" Liam met in Milwaukee's underground music scene in 2014, becoming fast friends and a collaborators.

The band released a debut full length, No Cover, in 2015, followed by a live album in 2016, Turn It To Ten in 2017 and the Sunny Side Up EP in 2018.  Now preparing to put out the EP Rank and File, Hi/Jack looks forward to taking their "hi/energy" rock to the masses.

You should probably check out that latest EP of theirs over there on the BANDCAMP.

Well, I live in Wisconsin. So, I've had it all. Deep dish, hand tossed, pan style, thin crust....I just don't care for gluten free crusts or anything like that.

2. It's going to get controversial now. Pineapple on Pizza. Why or why not?

Pizza Pie Do or Die with Lonescar

Let's talk about those delicious fat riffs.

But instead of riffs, let's talk about pizza.

Lonescar has a new record out on BANDCAMP.

NOW BRING ON THE PIZZA!

1. Pizza is the world's most perfect food. This is not up for debate. Please define pizza as based on your geographical location.

Our home lies along the border of Texas and Mexico, so culturally, we're essentially living in Mexico.

With that said, everyone down here loves a classic pie (hand tossed, hearty sauce, cheese and pepperoni), but some of us have added culture to the pie and come up with things like "Flaming Hot Cheetos & Taco Pizza" from Moran's Pizzaria.

Connor- No idea why that makes it Australian, I had a seafood one the other day and it rocked my socks. Actually, I have Pizza socks too.

Pizza Pie Do or Die with The World Without Us

Who else loves pizza out there? You know who loves pizza?

The World Without Us...at least I think they do. I haven't read through this yet, but promise I will!

Either way, you should read this and check out the BANDCAMP.

1. Pizza is the world's most perfect food. This is not up for debate.

Please define pizza as based on your geographical location. When I think of local pizza I think of sawdust. I grew up with a local pizza place known as Imperial Pizza; also know for being the cheapest pizza in Delaware County, Pennsylvania, at the time.

They would use cornmeal on the bottom of their pizzas, which both feels like and resembles sawdust, and your hands, shirt, everything would be covered in sawdust after eating a slice.

Pizza Pie Do or Die with Sail's Kynan Scott

Normally, when I'm writing these things, it's round about lunch time...and today is no different.

Who remembers the last time we checked in with Sail...who live across the pond? Slumbersong seems to stick in my mind....

As they've got a new single out, let's talk pizza.

Pizza has really seen a massive surge in popularity locally. There are tons of sourdough pizza places popping up everywhere locally so I guess that’s what’s available mostly.

Pizza Pie Do or Die with Atomic Kavemen

Atomic Kavemen
Atomic Kavemen are riding high after the release of their latest EP, Everybody Loves A Dead Man. They're digging it so much, they talk about it during pizza time.

It must be good.

Find out on BANDCAMP.

San Francisco doesn't really have its own variation, but we do have decent representation from other locales. We have gourmet deep dish with cornmeal crust.

We have doughy American style. We have floppy new York style. We have crispy thin like you would get in Italy.

Pizza Pie Do or Die with MVRVA

MNRVA
Who's up for some stoner sludge doom metal?

Well, check out South Carolina's own, MNRVA.

They're on the BANDCAMP and you can stream it to your heart's content.

While you're doing that, pop some tums and talk pizza.

1. Pizza is the world's most perfect food. This is not up for debate.

Pizza in South Carolina is different interpretations of pizza.

This is not a bad thing because you get to try everything and each one is a little different. I think the best pizza in Columbia is probably Labrasca’s Pizza.

Some of the coolest pizza as far as region is in Atlanta. They have a lot of rock n roll joint type places that serve good pie.

Pizza Pie Do or Die with Cult of Sorrow

Let's talk again to those Midwestern Rockers, Cult of Sorrow.

They've got this record out there in the world.

You can get it in any flavor you like, CD, digital, or Purple Splatter. If you're into that doom metal like you say you are...

If not, just order some pizza.

Hi! This is Jerry Lovett from Cult Of Sorrow. Pizza is one of my favorite foods.

I try to eat it at least once a week. I'm from Cincinnati Ohio, so there really isn't a defined style here although we have some great pizza places.

Most of it is your typical thin/medium crust pizza, topped however you like, although the wood fired pizza craze has been coming up strong for the past few years.

Pizza Pie Do or Die with Dead Register

Dead Register is on tour!

Make sure you check out their BANDCAMP.

Hello cruel and unusual world! This is Avril (low-low bass, synth, keys textures, visuals, vocals) of Dead Register. Thanks for having me on your pizza themed blog.

I’ll start this out on a positive note. Pizza is defined by my kitchen these days. I make a mean non-traditional pie with spelt flour crust, crushed tomatoes and herb sauce, topped off with Spotted Trotter Mexican Chorizo, fresh cremini mushrooms, fresh mozz, extra sharp aged white cheddar, finished with fine slivers of marinated onions and red peppers.

If I’m feeling feisty, I’ll do up a breakfast pizza with pesto, soft scrambled eggs, and piles of cheddar. Maybe toss in chunks of bacon or smoked salmon.

As far as the rest of my geographical locale is concerned… eek. I love the hell out of food, and the lack of amazing pizza here in Atlanta proper makes me sad.

Pizza Pie Do or Die with Monica Strut

Monica Strut
In the land down under lives Monica Strut. She's both in a band and helps bands how to do their own Public Relations.

Being as she's from a whole world away, it's going to be interesting to find out what pizza is like in Australia.

Let's dig in!

1. Pizza is the world's most perfect food. This is not up for debate. Please define pizza as based on your geographical location.

Australia is really European-influenced so our pizza is incredibly good.

My hometown of Melbourne has deep Italian roots so I dare say we have the best pizza in the country.

2. It's going to get controversial now. Pineapple on Pizza. Why or why not?

I LOVE pineapple on Pizza. I'm vegan now so the pineapple for me adds that depth of flavor that you might get from meat - even though I'm totally aware it taste's nothing like salami!

Pizza Pie Do or Die with Casket Robbery's Alex Simpson

From out of the southern Wisconsin region of Ed Gein country, comes Casket Robbery.

They're live shows are becoming something of legend, make sure you get a chance to see them when you can.

Get in on what they're doing at Bandcamp and you'll most likely be glad that you did.

For now though, we're going to sit down over pizza pie.

Pizza in Sodak is pretty basic lots of crust and cheese.

2. It's going to get controversial now. Pineapple on Pizza. Why or why not?

I Absolutely love pineapple on my pizza. Marco's in Sioux Falls has got it down with the Hawaiian style.

Pizza Pie Do or Die with Brien from Hosemen

This past April, Connecticut's Hosemen dropped their latest album via BANDCAMP.

They even made a contention that Connecticut Pizza is better than St. Louis Style.

I'm not sure if I can ever be friends with them.

You should read on.

1. Pizza is the world's most perfect food. This is not up for debate. Please define pizza as based on your geographical location.

Connecticut is the best hands down! New Haven which is about an hour away from Stamford (our hometown) has Sally's, Modern Apizza, Frank Pepe, and Bar which was recently reviewed on bar stool sports and got really high scores.

Old school Italian brick oven, thin burnt crust pies! We live in Stamford which is famous for our thin crust pie made by the original Colony Pizza on Elm Street. Best known for their "hot oil" pizza. I grew up on it and I think thin crust is the way to go!

Pizza Pie Do or Die with The Last Reign

The Last Reign
One of my favorite cities in this country is Buffalo, NY. A few years back, I'd get up there every so often to visit a friend.

There's some absolutely awesome food (stinger pizzas), beer (Saranac Brewing), and sports (Sabres, Bison, and Bandits) in that unsung town.

In many ways it reminds me of St. Louis, but with significantly more snow.

They also continue to have Tim Horton's locations...

So, today we're talking to The Last Reign about pizza and they didn't even mention the vaunted Stinger Pizza even once.

Oh well. On Friday they're dropping their newest EP on BANDCAMP and you should check that out if you're into death metal.

Pizza Pie Do or Die with Lamassu

When is the last time you thought about the wonderful world down under?

Does anyone still say down under or have we all just switched to calling it Oz?

Either way, there's a mystical, magical land that's back and too the left of the USA and it's called Australia.

It's best known in the States for their number one and two exports of lethal animals that will you as soon as look at you and people who like to go find those animals and just really piss them off whilst being filmed on TV.

And for the record, god rest the Croc Hunter. Watching him play with deadly snakes was must see TV for me.

But anyway, we're not talking about spiders the size of apples or bats as big as a Toyota Prius, but Lamassu.

Check out their debut LP at BANDCAMP. And now, it's time for an Australian perspective on pizza.

Pizza Pie Do or Die with Blind Scryer

Blind Scryer
If you're ever in Kansas City and you wanna hear some good music...
Do you remember that particular bit of wit from the greatest movie about Heavy Metal of All Time?

Well, if you're in Louisville and not KC and you're looking for some stoner metal and not jazz, you might just wanna check out Blind Scryer.

They popped out an album this past March, check it on
BANDCAMP and in the mean time, let's talk pizza.
1. Pizza is the world's most perfect food. This is not up for debate. Please define pizza as based on your geographical location.
A lot of places in Louisville, new and old have/had a blend of styles going on. Generous dough base, large size (think New York style but not quite as large), red sauce, standard supreme toppings (but large pieces) piled high, covered in cheese.
