7" Vinyl Review: "Terasoma" by Avantist

terrace
Let's start off with some housekeeping.

This is the record that's been waiting, fairly impatiently for time in the sun in the Glacially Musical vinyl reviews.

Avantist and the follow up came to me in the same package. I made it a point to wait instead of thumping out two reviews by same band on successive weeks.

So, Terasoma gets to be a part of Glacially Musical's first ever Vinyl Week.

Both of the releases hit the streets this year and the band, continues to confuse me.

Our friends from Chicago have a color palette the size of Lake Michigan.

In fact, it's bigger than Wrigleyville and other things in Chicago put together. (Sorry guys, though this St. Louisan loves your city and your Metra Rail service, it's not like I'm spending oceans of time up there.)

OK, they have more colors than a Giordanno's pizza has cheese?

Vinyl Review: "Avantist" by Avantist

Avantist
Can I give you some real talk right now?

Every so often there's some big talk about our global reach and offices in other nations, but you know that's not real right? Glacially Musical is a one man operation and I work my butt off in order to bring new music to the people. (GOOD new music.)

So right now, this post, along with two other vinyl reviews, is late. My turntable is up in my sitting room. For those of you who watch the unboxing videos, you'll see that I listen to these records in our second living room.

Well, presently, we are doing more than painting, but less than remodeling it so, it's not fit to sit in. Again, I cannot sit in my sitting room. As of this writing, I'm drinking a beer and working on this post with  my computer on a lapdesk whilst I lay down in my bed.

So big apologies to Avantist and No Trend Records. You should have already read this post, but my real life got in the way....

Vinyl Review: "Errors" by Absolutely Not

Errors
After many more "you're going to remember where you were when this happened" moments in the past eight months that anyone has ever thought possible, the fact that there's still emotion in my soul is kind of a wonderful thing right now.

As this is being written, it's 1:08 PM CST in my sitting room in St. Louis, MO on August13th.

Yes, Charlottesville, VA happened over the past couple days and I'm raw. Music and politics will be and have been inextricably linked for the following and preceding millenniums.

As there was a KKK/Nazi Rally in the United States, that President Trump didn't disavow or denounce, it seems serendipitous that on my turntable is a raging, punk record by an LGTBQ group.

It's still infuriating that their not being straight white males is relevant in 2017, but here we are.
