A Man Walks Into A Bar with The World Without Us

The World Without Us came into existence through the union of two old friends.

After months of trials and tribulation, Chris Fenimore (Lead Guitar) and Mario Canavarro (Vocals) managed to piece together a lineup with guitarist James Sundwall, bassist Peter Baliira, and drummer Steve Campbell. With that, the band was off to the races.

Since their first show in May of 2018 the band has accomplished a shocking amount in a relatively short time.

The group has shared the stage with everyone, from local heavy hitters If Not For Me and Burial in the Sky to big names, including Metal legend Soulfly.

Check out their latest album, Incarnate, on BANDCAMP.

1. Which is your favorite kind of bar and why? It can be any kind. Whiskey, Beer, Wine, Coffee, or Steel.

I love a good dive bar! It's easier to meet more interesting people in dives. Locals that are there to blow off steam with their friends.

Better conversation and cheaper drinks.

2. When you get up to the 'tender, what's your normal order?

I'm a beer drinker. Domestics, nothing fancy. Usually PBR or Yuengling Lager. A lot of them.

3. How did you find your local spot and what made you wanna keep coming back?

In my hometown there's a little place called Jake's where they used to sell fifty cent drafts (times have changed. They cost a whole dollar now).

When I was a college student I was broke as fuck so it didn't matter what they had on tap; it was immediately my favorite spot.

It was a bonus that I already knew most everyone there from other places around town. I made friends with a lot of people at Jake's that I still see every day.

4. What is the craziest thing you've seen happen but didn't take part in there?

I was proxy to a lot of bar fights, but the craziest thing that I WASN'T involved in - We were about a pitcher in and this older guy came through the front door.

I had seen him at this particular bar before but had never met him. He was an average sized dude with a tan like you get from working construction, and he was sweating pretty heavily. He didn't order a drink; he just went straight to the bathroom.

About ten minutes later we had gotten back to our conversation and had forgotten about him when two cops show up. The room goes silent (as is a common response when cops roll in) and the two make their way to the bar.

They talk to the bartender for a while, who eventually subtly nods toward the bathroom. They approach the door and enter, eventually struggling back out with the construction worker guy. It took them about ten more minutes to get him cuffed and outta there.

None of us got up. The whole bar. We all just kept drinking through the whole thing like it was any other Tuesday.

5. Do they have musical acts there and have you played it?

Jake's is a hole in the wall dive that's usually packed wall to wall with no room for a band, so unfortunately not.

Though we all did that drunk bonding thing once where we all agreed one day we would open our own dive just like it, but have room for music.

6. Is it harder to name a bar or a band? What would you name your bar?

It's harder to name a bar I think. My drinking buddies and I had a perfect name for our bar picked out once, but with the drinks being so cheap we can't remember what it was.
