Clouds Taste Satanic |
How long has it been? I'm not certain, but I saw these photos of one of the coolest looking records I'd seen in quite some time.
Then it turns out the band has a killer name and folks I'm tight with (well tight with on twitter) were singing their praises.
It's instrumental doom metal and well, that's enough to get me curious.
It wasn't long until I was spinning Evil Eye on my turntable.
The good folks in Clouds Taste Satanic have another record about to drop...go preorder that on BANDCAMP and find out what Steve thinks about beers.
1. My personal favorite beer style is the mighty Double India Pale Ale. The best DIPA in the world is STLIPA by Urban Chestnut. Tell me about your favorite style.
Sundays are for Stouts. Guinness of course but whatever Stout is on the menu at whatever brewery I happen to be at.
There are usually only 1 or 2 options, so it makes the selection process easy.

2. Many international people have laughed at me for this, but American Beer is the best in the world. Not American Lagers, that piss water is best used for drinking 15 of them while you're at the karaoke bar, but American Craft Beer.
Which nation is pumping out the best beer?
Which nation is pumping out the best beer?
Can’t say that I’ve sampled every country’s options but was pretty impressed when I was in Amsterdam. Of course, I was pretty high 95% of the time.
3. Even though I'm a giant beer snob, I'll drink beers that break the Bavarian Purity Laws. My personal favorite is Schalfly's Bourbon Barrel Imperial Stout. It's a might 22oz of 10% ABV Stout aged in bourbon barrels. It'll warm your heart and soul.
What beers do you love that break Reinheitsgebot?
What beers do you love that break Reinheitsgebot?
Don’t know what a Reinheitsgebot is, but we have a local brewery in our neighborhood called Other Half and 22oz of anything they brew will break me.
4. Right now, you couldn't pin me down and get me to give my favorite St. Louis Brewery, though Urban Chestnut's STLIPA does put them in the lead...but if you put a gun to my head, it’s Schlafly Brewing.
What do you think of your local brewers?
What do you think of your local brewers?
Aside from Other Half, there are at least another 25 in Brooklyn alone, plus god knows how many in all of NYC.
If you put a gun to my head, I would say Sixpoint in Red Hook is number 2. The fact is I have never walked out of one of my local brewers disappointed.

5. Hops or Malt? Personally, I feel like a jerk for asking the question. Give me a malty Scottish/Scotch Ale or a hoppy DIPA...and I'm happy...but you gotta pick one.
Malts. I have a big sweet tooth.
6. Whenever I'm road tripping. I'm always bringing back beers. Ohio, Great Lakes Brewing. East Coast, Yuengling. Western New York. Genessee. What do you bring home?
PBR’s, Twinkies, Red Bull, Vodka and Truck-Stop Porn.
