Split Review: "Decay Into Inferior Conditions" by Master and Dehuman

Decay Into Inferior Conditions
When you've got a good friend, you can trust them to be around and have your back.

It's always wonderful to think back to all of those times we had as children, teens, and twentysomethings when our best friend was right there making sure we did precisely what, well, we probably shouldn't have done.

There are a great many stories about what a good friend of mine and I did in Northern Illinois especially...like that time we bootlegged beer.

At least by the way I understand the letter of the law in Smokey & The Bandit. So, let's head forward into a split by two similar bands.

Around these parts we are always looking into every make and manner of split releases.

Today, we're looking at our first split live LP.

Side A features a four track, soundboard recording from Master.

These tracks are absolutely pummeling. It's probably safe to say that of the readers around these parts know what Master sounds like. Plucked from the first crop of death metal bands. They have a sound all together different than their peers.

Paul Speckmann's vocals are far more intelligible and the music less like traditional death metal and closer to to Death'n'Roll.

Side one of Decay Into Inferior Conditions is a spectacular, if a bit grainy, reproduction of a Master show.

There's little more than can be said. You just have to hear this one.

Side B is all Dehuman.

Dehuman is a modern death metal band. This is more of the death metal we've come to know and love in the 21st Century.

Their side isn't live on stage like Master's, but live in the studio. Either way, the difference, well, there really isn't one when you think about it. Live recordings are live recordings.

Dehuman just pounds away with blast beats and stunning feats on guitar.

Both bands are thick, heavy, and angry.

The best part is that they're on tour together right now.
