Sporelord |
As could be expected from the instrumental stoner band, Sporelord doesn't speak too much, but they let their playing do their talking.
But check out what I was able to extract from them.
Glacially Musical: Thank you for taking some time for us today.
Spore Lord: Thank you for having us!
GM: Tell me about why you chose to go instrumental rather than the standard vocal songs.
SL: We were having a difficult time finding a vocalist. After so long, we just went out and played in front of a live audience to see if people would enjoy our sound. So far, the reactions are positive. So we kept doing it.
GM: What are your main influences?
SL: Lately, it has been a lot of the bands in the Atlanta area. Day Old Man, Gnomonaut, Zruda...Way too many to name. Bands that make me want to become a better musician.
GM: How high can you count in Roman Numerals?
SL: How many Wrestle-mania's are there? 30ish? XXX
GM: Do you think of your songs as stories?
SL: Not at the moment. We would just catch a good groove and hope to keep grooving from there. A good bit of songs had vocals in mind as we were doing a lot of writing during the hunt for a singer.
GM: Where does the inspiration come from?
SL: Cat memes. Bong hits. Pizza.
GM: On a scale of 1 to 10, where Karma To Burn is number 1 and Steve Vai is number 10, what is Spore Lord and why?
SL: That is the most insane scale of 1 to 10 that I have ever heard.
We would probably be around a 4 or 5. That is where Snoop Dogg is, right?
I feel we would have a lot in common with Snoop Dogg.
GM: What are the five most important albums ever recorded?
SL: Right now? They are forever changing..
Deep Purple - Machine Head
Van Halen - Van Halen
Captain Beefheart - Trout Mask Replica
The Sword - Age of Winters
Pink Floyd - Animals
GM: Where did the name Spore Lord come from?
SL: It is based off of the "Stoned Ape" theory, by Terence McKenna.
Spores can survive in a vacuum. So, what if psychedelic spores hitch hiked through space and landed on Earth million
